Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station
The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse (175ft) in Florida and the second tallest lighthouse in the nation. (Cape Hatteras comes in at 208ft). Today was Homeschool Day and I dragged my buns of steel, oops I mean peel, up the whole 175ft but it was so worth the effort, there was the most lovely breeze and the view was spectacular!
Besides the workout Mason enjoyed gardening 1860's style, (not that it has changed much in the past 150 years), sewing, laundry and the cleaning of a kerosene chimney. There were several restored Fresnel lenses in one of the exhibit buildings that were just amazing. Did you know that before transporting they take them apart and then put them back together again? One of the lenses took 3 years to reassemble!
